感冒是一種常見的外感病，西醫認為感冒大多由病毒引起，
而中醫則會把致病原因歸咎於大自然天氣變異，認為人體
抵抗力下降便容易染病。由於人的體質有寒熱之分,
所以感冒也分為風寒感冒和風熱感冒兩種類型。
中醫治療感冒的方法基本上是將仍處於身體表層的病邪
從皮膚毛孔驅逐出去，令出入升降通道回復暢通，因此
首先必須瞭解病者是患了風寒感冒還是風熱感冒，這可從
所出現的症狀細心觀察而得知。
風寒感冒通常會有下列的部份或全部症狀：
惡寒重，發熱輕，無汗，頭痛，肢節酸疼，鼻塞或鼻癢噴嚏，
時流清涕，咽癢，咳嗽，痰吐稀薄色白，口不渴或渴喜熱飲，
舌苔薄白而潤，脉浮緊。
風熱感冒則會有下列的部份或全部症狀：
身熱較顯著，微惡風，汗泄不暢，頭脹痛，面赤，咳嗽，
痰黏或黃，咽燥，或咽喉红種疼痛，鼻塞，流黃濁涕，
口乾欲飲，舌苔薄白微黃，舌邊尖紅，脉浮数。
通常風寒感冒可以用荊防敗毒散作辛溫解表，病者出汗後
病情便會好轉；風熱感冒則用銀翹散作辛涼解表，清熱後
病就可愈。另外，我們若懂得辨別感冒類型就可調節飲食
以助康復。例如風寒感冒時忌吃生冷食物；風熱感冒時
忌吃煎炸食物等。
